Whether you are at school, college, university, or perhaps at a crossroads in your early career, our friendly and approachable team of careers advisers are here to help. You might be accessing our services via your school, or have come to us as an individual, but either way, our support is tailored to your individual needs. We see thousands of young people every year and no two people are exactly the same!
In addition to one to one career guidance, we also offer mock interviews for Oxford and Cambridge, vocational courses at college and university, as well as general interview practice for job applicants.

“I am interested in a future career in engineering. The adviser helped me greatly and has shown me a variety of options on how to achieve this. She gave me plenty of advice regarding the pros and cons of university vs an apprenticeship and opened my mind to alternative opportunities to achieve my goals.
In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere she pointed out areas which I should work on for example she recommended doing some industry work experience before applying to university or an apprenticeship.
She also showed me plenty of resources which I found very useful. I now know what to do to help me get to where I want to be in the future.”

Speaking to the adviser from The Career Place was so helpful. Discussing my Morrisby test results was really insightful and showed me how important variety was to me in choosing a career.
It revealed my areas of proficiency and interest – which really boosted my confidence. I’m so glad I did it!

"My mock interview with The Career Place helped my confidence in my interview skills. The questions challenged my knowledge of topics I had mentioned on my personal statement and ability to expand on them.
My interviewer asked me some Biological questions which were unrelated to my personal statement that I had to think of answers to on my feet which was great practice for my interview.
The feedback I was given afterwards was very helpful in pinpointing areas I could improve."
